1. Clean mini blinds
Yes, I want to start with the worst part about spring cleaning. I’m sure many of you would agree that cleaning mini blinds is a great pain. However, I’ve learned a small tip that makes it really easier. Just take your mini blinds down and wash them in the bath. They’ll be cleaner in no time!

If you used to wash your walls by hand, this spring try washing them with a mop instead. This will save you a lot of time, I promise! Now that I know this little trick, washing my walls isn’t a big problem anymore. Give it a try and you will never think of washing the walls as a great pain.

3. Clean your oven
I don’t understand those people who clean their oven by hand when they have a self-cleaning one. A self-cleaning oven works amazingly and is so easy to operate. If you have a self-cleaning oven, just turn it on and it will do its thing. While it’s cleaning, the oven gets extremely hot and there can be a terrible smell, but you can go outdoors to avoid the smell, or do another chore to complete your spring cleaning faster.

If you have carpets, I suggest you to hire them done. It’s better and easier. It’s also incredibly time-saving. The professional knows what they’re doing and they can be more experienced at stain removal than you are. If you can afford, give your carpets to the professionals.

5. Purchase a ceiling fan cleaner
Purchase a ceiling fan cleaner so that you don’t have to climb up and take it all apart. Indeed, there’s a great device that you can purchase that cleans the ceiling fan. It’s like a duster but created to fit over every blade. While you still should clean the globes, it helps save you immense amounts of time and headache.

6. Clean your curtains
If you have trouble cleaning your curtains, I recommend doing all of your curtains at once. Take the day, take your curtains down and wash them. After washing, hang your curtains back up. Don’t forget to check the instructions and learn how to properly launder them. Maybe your curtains are dry clean only ones. Follow the instructions on the label and you won’t have any problems.

7. Don’t do it alone
If you share a home or if you have a big family, don’t do your spring cleaning alone, it’s just too much for one person. Have everybody muck in and help and you’ll get it done quicker and you will even have time for a spring picnic or family BBQ.

Follow these tips and you will do your spring cleaning faster and easier. Which tricks do you use to do your spring cleaning quicker? Share them with me, please, I will certainly try them all!

9 Smart Ways to Become Healthier

If you are healthy, you’ll be able to work, study and do various activities more productively. But if you have certain problems with your health, nothing will bring you happiness. Due to the fact that our life is very busy we almost don’t have time to take care of our health. As a result, lots of people suffer from different diseases that make them feel bad. However, there are some simple things that may help us improve our physical and emotional state. To stay healthy and happy you don’t have to spend huge sums of money, just make sure you include the following things into your daily routine and you’ll manage to prevent numerous health disorders.

1. Sleep More
It is a well-known fact that good sleep contributes greatly to our health and beauty either. According to scientific researches people who don’t sleep enough are more subjected to illnesses as their immunity is weak. Plus, they tend to gain weight quickly that can turn out to be a big problem. When you stay awake at night, the hunger will bother you and you’ll consume foods that may be harmful to your waistline. Dietarians say that those who constantly lack sleep usually eat more than they really need. That’s why you’d better sleep more instead of eating unhealthy snacks.

2. Laugh As Much As You Want
Laughter is considered to be extremely beneficial for us. Every day we face plenty of stressful situations that have a negative impact on our health, so, if you have an opportunity to laugh, don’t restrict your emotions and enjoy the moment. It has been proven that laughter can expend blood vessels and support your vascular health. Moreover, it stimulates the production of endorphins, hormones that are responsible for our good mood and bright emotions.

3. Eat Carotenoids
At first it may seem that there is no connection between our health and beauty, but when you look beautiful and attractive, you’ll feel more confident and content. Consequently, these positive feelings will be reflected in your physical condition. Thus, it is necessary to focus on our beauty as well. We all know that health benefits of fruits and vegetables are countless. Furthermore, they are perfect for our skin. Make it a rule to eat veggies like cabbage, tomatoes, kale, broccoli and peppers. Being full of carotenoids they will provide a fresh glow to your skin. This way, you’ll be able to stay attractive and healthy at the same time.

4. Stay Active While Aging
Certainly, nobody wants to get older but the process of aging is inevitable for all of us. Then, why not age artfully? Unfortunately, most seniors prefer to stay at home after they retire. Having no social life, these people feel unnecessary in society. Finally, it may lead to stress and their health will get worse. For this reason, it would be a splendid idea to do some enjoyable activity when you grow old. It has been found that aged people, who do things like painting, singing or creative writing, are healthier and more satisfied with their life unlike those who sit back. More importantly, your active lifestyle will give you an opportunity to enhance the immune system and develop your personality.

5. Get a Massage
Doctors assert that massage is always salubrious to our body. Firstly, it will help you relax and refresh your mind after a hard day. Secondly, you should try massage since it will lower your blood pressure and the number of stress hormones in your body will be diminished. All together this increases the amount of natural killer cells that protect our body against bacteria, viruses and cancer cells. Even a single massage session can ensure particular biological changes.

6. Work with Friends
It’s quite difficult to imagine our existence without work. Taking into account the fact that we spend hours in the office it is necessary to create supportive and friendly atmosphere at our workplace. There are lots of evidences that those who get on well with their colleagues live longer because they don’t often deal with tension and anxiety caused by hostility and misunderstanding. Therefore, you are recommended to get acquainted with your co-workers when you apply for a job.

7. Clean without Toxic
Today we have an enormous choice of detergents that are very effective when it comes to cleaning our homes. Despite this most household products are dangerous to our health as they contain toxics. Instead you can prepare a home-made detergent that will reduce bacteria. Mix some lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda and use this substance to clean any dirty place in your house. It has been discovered that vinegar is excellent in fighting mold and germs.

8. Communicate with Your Neighbors
People are social beings and communication is an integral part of our life. In order to be healthier and happier we should develop a strong community. These days the majority of the world’s population lives in cities and towns that are full of bustle and inhabitants don’t notice each other. Some people living in block apartments even don’t know their neighbors and never talk to them. I think it is terrible to be surrounded by hundreds of people but still stay alone. Studies show that heart disease occurs rarely among those who live in a close-knit community. In addition, their emotional health is greatly improved.

9. Don’t Lose Your Hope
Sometimes we have certain difficulties that may result in frustration and depression which affect our health ruinously. Hence, you ought to be optimistic and think positively in spite of all troubles. Professors say that happy people almost don’t have risk of cardiovascular disease. Don’t lose your hope whatever happens in your life and work persistently to achieve your goal. This is the main key to your success and well-being.

Nothing can be more valuable and important than our health, that’s why we must always find time to care for it. I hope that these tips will help you become healthier without extra efforts and expenses. The only thing you need is a great desire to improve your health and positive attitude to life. If you know other ways to be healthy and happy, I’ll be glad to hear from you.

10 Best Ways to Deal with Body Acne

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, covering about 3,000 square inches of area. It keeps you warm, retains moisture, and protects you from infection. The skin is a remarkable organ, but it can also be a source of embarrassment when breakouts of acne occur. If you are looking for some tips for dealing with body acne, here are some of the most effective ones.

1. Get Adequate Rest
Stress hormone levels increase by 14% for every hour of sleep lost in a night. Glucocorticoids are a type of stress hormone well known to affect skin structure and function. Increases in glucocorticoid levels can worsen acne and reduce your skin’s ability to heal. Researchers recommend that you get an average of eight hours per sleep each night and that you keep the room temperature between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit to improve sleep quality.

2. Get Exercise
Exercise reduces levels of glucocorticoids, but it also helps to regulate other hormone levels, improve metabolism, boost immune function, and increase blood and oxygen flows to the skin. Overall, exercise is one of the best things you can do to improve acne. That said, sweat can irritate skin and worsen breakouts, so be sure to shower immediately after working out. Wipe away excess sweat during your workout and avoid clothing that traps sweat against your skin.

3. Exfoliate
The exact cause of acne isn’t known, but clogged pores are a part of the problem. Most of what clogs our pores doesn’t come from the environment, but directly from our own bodies. Sweat, oils, and dead skin can all get trapped in pores and lead to acne. Using a mild abrasive, such as a salt or sugar scrub, is a great way to clear waste products from your skin. Be sure to moisturize after exfoliating to reduce inflammation, which can also contribute to acne. Most dermatologists recommend cleansing the skin twice per day.

4. Avoid Sugar
There is a lot of controversy over just how much of an effect diet has on acne. Truth be told, the impact of diet varies greatly from one person to another. It is pretty clear, however, that sugar, which causes spikes in insulin and other hormones, is a major factor in the development of acne. You don’t have to avoid all sugars, but you need to consume less “added sugar.” What does that mean? It means don’t add sugar to your drinks, avoid sweetened products like chocolate and soft drinks, and generally try to eat foods that don’t contain too much sugar. Fruits are fine in most cases, but try to eat berries, which are lower in fructose than things like apples and bananas.

5. Don’t Touch
This is hard to do, but if you can avoid touching your body then you should. Our fingers not only contain loads of oil, they also contain loads of bacteria. Even if the bacteria on your fingers do not directly cause acne, they can lead to inflammation that increases the likelihood that acne will form. Touching your face can be especially problematic.

6. Increase Your Water Intake
Research has shown that drinking just two additional cups of water per day will significantly increase blood flow to the skin. This, in turn, helps the skin to get necessary nutrients and rid itself of waste. Removing waste products from the skin reduces inflammation and improves the skin’s ability to deal with unexpected insults (like high sugar intake or a sweaty workout). Drink one glass of water in the morning and one in the afternoon to make a huge difference in your skin clarity.

7. Use Sunblock
Some people worry that the chemicals in sunblock will worsen acne, but the truth is that UV damage from the sun is a major cause of inflammation and pimples. Look for sunblocks that are advertised as “noncomedogenic” so that you don’t have to worry about them clogging pores. Avoid products that contain zinc oxide or titanium oxide as those tend to block pores. Better ingredients include avobenzone and octocrylene. A high-quality sun block not only protects your skin from acne, it protects it from cancer as well.

8. Change Your Diet
Omega-3 fatty acids, usually associated with nuts and certain fish, have been shown to decrease inflammation throughout the body. You can either eat more foods that contain this acid or you can take supplements of omega-3 fatty acid. Omega-3 fats not only improve your skin, they boost heart and brain health as well.

9. Watch Your Hair and Bathing Products
All shampoos, soaps, conditioners, hair sprays, and other hygiene products are not created equal. Some contain oils that can seep into and block pores. Others can cause inflammation that leads to acne. It can be hard to know which product will work best for you, but try to avoid anything that is excessively greasy or that makes you itchy or red or produces a rash. Look for soaps that wash away completely.

10. Clean Your Phone
This one is relatively new, but the ubiquity of cellular phones and our constant handling of them for texting, emails, and calls has made them a significant source of bacteria. Experts recommend that you wipe your phone down with an antibacterial product at least once per day. Even a little liquid hand sanitizer will do the trick in a pinch.

When it comes to acne, the bottom line is inflammation. Reducing inflammation through good diet, good hygiene, and careful use of anti-acne products will significantly reduce your propensity to develop acne. Beyond that, good skin care and careful cleaning will help to keep pores open so that the skin can effectively remove toxins and waste products.

10 Steps to a Perfect French Manicure

French manicures are a simple, yet elegant way to dress up your nails. The style is a professional one and can be used even in the most elegant of settings. It also ensures that your nails look their best at all times. In addition, the squared off style helps keep fingernails strong and prevent breakage. There’s no reason to stick with white and clear nail polish for your manicure. Try a light pink with a shimmer gloss on top or a baby blue. The possibilities are endless. Here are a few important tips to follow to get a perfect French manicure at home.

1. Assemble your supplies
Make sure you have everything you need for the French manicure. You’ll need a nail file, nail polish remover, and nail polish. You should have a nail polish in an opaque color, as well as a clear one. The clear polish can be tinted to compliment the opaque color. Another un-tinted, clear polish is a good idea, as well.

2. Prepare your fingernails
Shape is very important when it comes to a good manicure. While the trending nail shape may change over the years, the slightly squared off look is best for French manicures. You can achieve this by gently filing the nail flat at the end and then rounding the corners slightly. Always file from the center of the fingernail and move the file toward the edge. Moving in this direction will help prevent splitting nails and irregularities that can cause breakage later on.

3. Soften the cuticles
Soak your fingers in warm water for five minutes. This will help soften the nails and the cuticles alike. You can use an orange wood stick to gently push the cuticles back. Moving the cuticles will give you more space for the manicure and help your fingernails look longer and more elegant.

4. Clean the nails
Removing an old nail polish is an essential step in prepping for a manicure. Even if you don’t have any old polish, it’s a good idea to wipe your nails down with nail polish remover anyway to remove grease. Residue on the nails may make it difficult for the polish to adhere correctly.

5. Apply base coat
Use a clear primer to ensure an even surface for the design. Apply it carefully, using three strokes from the bottom to the tip of each nail for the best results.

6. Stick on templates
You can find a number of French manicure template stickers to purchase, but you can also use round children’s stickers. Place the sticker or template the desired distance from the nail tip on each nail and press down firmly. It’s easiest to do all your nails at once so you don’t smudge the polish later.

7. Paint the tips
Use your chosen opaque color to paint the tips of your nails. Don’t worry if the polish goes over the sticker. Allow the polish to dry for at least 10 minutes. The drier it is, the less likely it will interfere with the next layer. Remove the stickers. If any residue from the stickers stays on the nails, you can remove it very carefully with a small amount of nail polish remover.

8. Add a clear coat
The next step is to apply the clear polish in an even layer. Use three strokes to cover the nail completely. Allow the polish to dry completely. You may want to add another layer. The polish you use for the clear coat does not need to be completely clear. A slight tint or even glitter or shimmer polish can give you a unique look.

9. Seal
A top coat is a good idea if you want your nails to stay nice for a good long time. You can purchase a specially formulated top coat or you can simply use clear nail polish to add shine. It will protect the polish underneath and will keep your nails looking great. The special top coats are designed to dry very hard for extra protection.

10. Touch up as necessary
To ensure the manicure stays in great condition for as long as possible, you will need to do some touch ups here and there. You can apply a fresh layer of clear nail polish a couple of days after the original manicure to keep everything in place. If there are any chips, carefully apply the corresponding color and let it dry. Then add another top coat. Your beautiful nails can last for over a week with careful fixes as needed.

When you take the time to do a proper French manicure, it will last for more than a week. Make sure you follow each step for the best results. You will have fingers to be proud of when you are finished, all while saving money by doing the manicure at home. It is also easy to customize the look of your nails with specific colors and textures of nail polish, so don’t be afraid to get creative.

How to Clean Up Your Office Environment and Do a Great Job

The environment you work in is important for your well-being. If you spend a great deal of time in one office, it is likely that your surroundings have become a blur to you. Most people who spend hours sitting at a desk for their job cease to see their office space clearly anymore, as they are desensitized to what is around them visually. However, their environment can make a big difference to how they feel and how comfortable they are at work.

When people get used to working in a drab office environment they fail to recognize the need to improve their surroundings. They may suffer from work related stress, but not realize that the condition of their office has a part to play in their emotional and physical health. Just making a few simple changes could aid them in feeling happier and more satisfied at work, as well as physically more comfortable and healthy.

1. Lighting
One of the main complaints employees often have when they start an office job is that lighting is unsatisfactory. Perhaps it glares and hurts their eyes, or is too dim, making them squint and strain their vision or not enough natural light is present. If nothing changes, they get used to it.

Look around your office and see if you can improve lighting. Remove furniture and files that block windows and clean the glass to let in more light. You can also change poor lighting so that it is more comfortable on your eyes and helps you feel less stressed. If you have been suffering from headaches, paying attention to lighting in your office could make them disappear.

2. Airflow
Inadequate airflow can make you feel tired and lethargic. People often complain that they lack energy at work and this is sometimes related to working in a stuffy, stale environment with little airflow.

There are many ways to get air flowing through your office. Opening windows is the simplest way, followed by installing fans. If you are tired at work, or suffer from allergies, using an air purifier in your office may help too.

3. Decoration
The best wallpaper or paint colors for an office are those that are fresh and mentally stimulating. Dark or dismal colors such as muddy brown or grey are likely to make you feel miserable while at work. Colors such as yellow and white will help you think more clearly and feel lively, as will areas of pale green and sky blue.

It is fine to have a few objects in your office that do not hold a specific use relating to work, but they should blend favorably with the environment and not be distracting. Look at the objects you keep in your office and ask yourself whether they add to the environment in a positive way, or are a hindrance. Keeping a photograph of your spouse and children on your desk may comfort you and help you work harder, but having many amusing toys could slow you down and clutter your desk.

4. Furniture
It is sensible to keep only streamlined furniture that is multipurpose in your office if possible. For example, if you need a coffee table make sure it is minimalist, but also has side drawers and a basket compartment underneath for the storage of paperwork.

As it is known that sitting for long periods in an office can be unhealthy, encourage movement by placing equipment, such as printers and fax machines, away from your desk. Leave plenty of space around your desk so that you do not feel hemmed in, and this will encourage you to stand more often and stretch.

As people recognize that they spend a lot of time in bed during their lives, they think nothing of buying a great mattress to keep their back healthy. However, office workers often forget that they may spend an equal amount of time sitting in an uncomfortable chair. Invest in an ergonomic office chair that keeps your body in a healthy position while you work at your desk, and you will be glad that you did.

5. Scent
Fresh air is always great to breathe in, but you can also utilize specific scents to help you achieve what you want to at work. For example, if you want to remember important details placing a few drops of rosemary essential oil into an oil burner will be useful. Likewise, if you want to remain lively and alert, placing bowls of potpourri with a fresh citrus scent in your office may help.

6. Motivational tools
Whether you work alone in your office or share with other people, utilizing motivational tools can increase production and feelings of well-being. A motivational tool could be anything from a positive affirmation sign placed somewhere prominent, to an activity or ritual to increase energy, such as a five-minute break each day, listening to uplifting music and practicing deep breathing.

Think of your office as somewhere special, rather than a place you begrudgingly go to in order to earn a crust. If you improve your working environment by paying attention to small details and making changes where appropriate, you will find that you enjoy being at work and do a great job.

6 Things I Do Now to Get Ready for Thanksgiving

I can’t believe that we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving Day just in a few weeks. This is a special holiday for me when I can express gratitude for all my blessings, spend an unforgettable time with my family and enjoy savory aroma of a roast turkey and other festive dishes. This year I’m going to host a Thanksgiving dinner at my home.

On the one hand, this expectation makes me very happy since I’ll have a wonderful opportunity to meet my parents whom I haven’t seen for three months. On the other hand, the preparation to the holiday induces much stress and worry as I have to do plenty of things for my dinner to be a great success. That’s why I should plan every detail of my Thanksgiving celebration in advance and it’s high time to start preparing right now. Here are a few things I do now to get ready for the perfect Thanksgiving feast without stress and anxiety.

1. Send invitation cards
While I can call each member of my family any moment and invite them to the long-awaited party just in several minutes, I think that by sending individual invitation cards to my guests I will add more solemnity to the holiday. Nowadays we can find a big choice of various cards in every supermarket. If you are very busy, it would be a nice idea to buy them in order to save your time. Moreover, there are lots of online services that offer special invitations for your guests. Personally I want to surprise my family this year. So, I will make unique cards with my daughter. This way we’ll have fun and prepare to the festivity at the same time.

2. Plan my menu
Undoubtedly, a menu is one of the most significant aspects of every party. Therefore, I need to create the one that will impress my guests. I have already started to browse different cookbooks and websites in the search of interesting and unusual recipes. Surely, the roast turkey will be the main attraction of my festive table. I will also cook vegetable side dishes like mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy and a couple of light salads to add more diversity to the menu.

I can’t imagine Thanksgiving without desserts. At this time we have a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables that can be used to make numerous pies and biscuits. Pumpkin pie is my favorite dessert for Thanksgiving and I’ll obviously include it into the list of dishes this year. Now, when I have a clear vision of the foods to cook for the upcoming holiday, I can write down the menu and all the recipes needed.

3. Make a grocery list and go shopping
My Thanksgiving menu is ready and it’s time to make a grocery list of the ingredients I should buy in advance. Actually I always put down all the foods necessary for cooking holiday dishes and then I tick off those that can be purchased ahead of time. For example, it’s okay to buy boxed, canned and frozen goods right now. Don’t forget about the turkey as well. If you decide to purchase the foods two days before the holiday, you’ll have to wait in long queues, the prices will be much higher and you might not find certain items. First of all I’ve cleaned out my fridge and pantry so that I have enough storage for the groceries I will buy in advance. When you go shopping, make sure you’ve put on your grocery list staples such as napkins and paper towels.

4. Prepare decorations
Decorations are an integral part of every holiday and Thanksgiving is no exception. Things like pilgrims, cornucopias, pumpkins, turkeys and Native American symbols are the best choices that will help me to create a delightful and cheerful atmosphere in my home. Thanksgiving Day is around the corner and it’s a great time to go shopping for these decorations without any delay. In addition, some natural materials such as autumn leaves and pinecones are going to be an excellent decoration for my house.

Next week I will start working on various Thanksgiving crafts, involving my daughter and nephew into this pleasurable activity. Colorful centerpieces, candles, napkin rings and place cards are the basic elements I traditionally use to enrich the overall look of my table.

5. Clean the house
Surely, if I clean up my house right now, it will be messy again just one week later. Nonetheless, there are certain household chores I can tackle successfully within the next few weeks. For instance, washing my tablecloths, cleaning windows, polishing silverware and getting rid of unnecessary stuff in my guest room are the most useful things to do these days. They will help me to avoid haste and chaos when I have to cook plenty of dishes the day before Thanksgiving.

6. Think about entertainment
Thanksgiving is generally associated with joy and laughter. If your family simply sit in front of the TV set when the dinner is over, they might get bored soon and the celebration will lose its significance. There is a wide range of activities to try with your family. Playing board games, telling interesting stories or taking a walk is an excellent way to stir up excitement and bring the whole family together. Don’t waste your time; start thinking of the ideas on how to entertain those you love after the festive dinner.

Preparation for Thanksgiving requires lots of effort and time. Due to this we shouldn’t put off all the tasks till the last minute and do a little bit each week getting ready for the big day step by step. By doing these things in advance I manage to enjoy a splendid celebration with my family. Have you already started your Thanksgiving preparation? What things are you going to do first?

10 Beauty Tips for Contact Lens Wearers

You may have been wearing contact lenses for years, or you may have just made the switch from spectacles. Either way, you probably love the convenience and enhanced vision that you enjoy because of your contacts. On the other hand, applying makeup, especially eye makeup, can be frustrating. Following these basic tips can minimize the frustration and risk associated with wearing both contact lenses and makeup.

1. Clean hands, clean makeup tools
When dealing with your eyes and the delicate skin around them, cleanliness is essential. Wash your hands thoroughly before you begin applying your makeup. Be sure that your makeup brushes and tools are also kept clean and in good repair. Never, ever share makeup or makeup tools with anyone As a bonus, you should find that your entire makeup job looks more polished and natural when you use clean, high-quality products.

2. Put your contacts in first
A major advantage of contact lenses is that you can wear them while you apply your makeup. In fact, you should insert your contacts before you apply any makeup to your face. You’ll see better and you will minimize the risk of eye infections.

3. Opt for waterproof, oil-free mascara
Oil-based mascaras and contact lenses do not mix. Likewise, you should always use waterproof mascara. On the other hand, mascara that includes fibers and other thickening agents are a no-go; there is too much risk of flaking and debris falling into your eyes.

4. Cream eye shadow is preferable
You don’t have to give up on wearing eye shadow if your wear contact lenses. Simply substitute cream-based eye color for your favorite powder shades. Cream eye shadow is less likely to flake. You may need to adjust your application technique when you first begin using cream eye shadow, but the adjustment is worth the effort.

5. No liner on inner or lower lids
If you wear eye liner, use a fine-tipped brush or pencil and take your time drawing the line. Since you are wearing your contacts you should be able to see what you are doing. Limit eyeliner to your upper lids. Never, ever attempt to apply eyeliner to your lower lids and especially not to your inner lids. That is just asking for an eye infection.

6. Choose hypoallergenic products whenever possible
Even if your skin is not especially sensitive, consider using hypoallergenic cosmetics whenever possible. Selecting hypoallergenic eye makeup is especially important. The same properties that make hypoallergenic cosmetics suitable for sensitive skin can protect your eyes from potential irritation.

7. Select pressed powder
Many women like to finish their makeup routines with powder. The powder sets the makeup in place and minimizes the appearance of oily skin on the nose and forehead. If you opt for powder as a final step in your makeup routine, opt for pressed powder rather than loose powder. While loose powder can produce a lovely smooth finish, it also tends to fly around, and at least some of that flying powder could end up in your eyes.

8. Remove eye makeup with care
When the time comes to remove your makeup, wash your hands thoroughly beforehand. Use products that are water based and fragrance free. Use a foam wedge rather than cotton balls to remove eye makeup to minimize the risk of fibers migrating into your eyes. Be sure that your makeup is completely removed before removing your lenses.

9. Consider disposable lenses
Back in the day, you had to boil your lenses regularly to keep them clean. Today, disposable lenses make it possible to ensure that your lenses are always clean. Ask your eye care professional if disposable lenses are a viable option for you.

10. Know when to wear glasses
Regardless of how convenient wearing contact lenses can be, there are times when you have to wear glasses, at least temporarily. If you accidentally poke yourself in the eye with your mascara wand, you will probably need to remove your lenses at least until the irritation in your eye has subsided. It also goes without saying that if you are suffering from any kind of eye infection, do not risk wearing contact lenses.

When you wear contact lenses, it’s crucial to carefully apply your makeup. Although it’s always best to go make-up free, there are times when we need make-up. Hopefully, these little tips will help you avoid an eye infection and any other eye problems. If you know some other tips, share them with us, please.

8 Little Tricks to Make Your Home Smell Great

Every home can sometimes smell a bit funky no matter the reason. While many people buy air fresheners, there are a few frugal and more natural ways to make your home smell great. Some of these ways are quick and easy and others are more of a surprise, but they really work. Follow these 8 tips and tricks to keep your home smelling good every day.

1. Fabric softener sheets
One of the best tricks you can use to make your home smell good is to opt for fabric softener sheets. Just tuck them into different places in your house to release their fragrance. You can place them under the sheets on the bed, in drawers, and under couch cushions. Everyone who visits you will smell the fabric softener sheets but they won’t know where this lovely smell is coming from.

2. Keep your home clean
Well, when you are trying to make your home smell nice, the main thing to remember is to keep it clean. Although it sounds obvious, many of us miss it. I’m sure everyone wants their home to be a healthy place for their family to live, so it’s vital to clean your house on a regular basis. The major areas that can cause bad smells in your house are the bathroom and the kitchen so make sure you pay close attention to those areas and clean them every other day, or every day if your schedule allows.

3. Open the windows
Perhaps this sounds very simple when it comes to making the house smell good, but we often forget about it and opt for air fresheners. Every house needs to be aired out at least once a day. If you don’t air a house out, it can get a stale, musty smell about it. My house always feels much cleaner after it’s been aired out. It smells fresh and it boosts my mood instantly. Moreover, fresh air can improve your sleep.

4. Tart warmer
There are a few different kinds of tart warmers. There’s a tart warmer that you can plug into the wall and it will act both as a night light and a tart warmer. There’s also a tart warmer that comes with a cord made in a decorative form and that you can place in different places in your house. I personally use a tart warmer every day. This makes my home smell lovely throughout the rooms.

5. Nice smelling laundry detergent
Using a nice smelling laundry detergent is a tip that goes a long way. There are a couple of families that I like to visit since I can always smell their fantastic laundry detergent from outside their house while I’m waiting for them to open the door. Find a laundry detergent that will have the most long lasting scent and that will go throughout your house every time you use it.

6. Bake cookies
This tip is not an easy one for many of us, but if you are a big fan of cooking, you can easily make your home smell great. After all, who doesn’t like the smell of fresh baked cookies? Not only does baking cookies make your home smell nice, it also gives you an opportunity to enjoy delicious homemade treats. There are many other things to bake such as brownies, muffins, and cakes.

7. Secret air freshener
It’s one of my favorite ways to make a home smell good. I hang some car air fresheners in a closet and near a garbage can. They actually do a lot to help cope with odor and I’ve received plenty of compliments on how I always make such small areas of my home smell so great.

8. Flowers
Fresh flowers are one of the best ways to keep your house smelling fresh and clean. You can place a vase with your favorite flowers in your bedroom, living room or kitchen. There’s no need to buy those air fresheners. Buying flowers every day can ruin your budget, though. I suggest that you buy flowers at least once a week, especially if you know that someone is going to visit you.

East or West, home is best. No matter where you go, you will remember the smell of your home. Keeping your home smelling fresh will help you stay healthy and make your visitors remember the smell of your home. What are your tips for making your house smell lovely? 6 All-Natural Ways to Spring Clean Your Body

With spring officially here, it is time to get rid of that winter overindulgence. Just like your house needs a spring clean, your body craves the same. Let’s not forget that summer is coming and you will not get ready for the bikini season in two days. Without a long introduction, here are the all-natural ways to spring clean your body starting today.

All-Natural Ways to Spring Clean Your Body
1. Check out your spring meal plan
Leave spicy and fatty foods for cold winter days and welcome organic food instead. In spring, your immune system is still weak, so including vitamin C rich foods in your daily diet is a must. Consider eating organic cucumbers, carrots, cherries, oranges, tomatoes, pineapple and turnips. It is best to eat them raw to get the most micronutrients.

Beets, garlic, string beans, apples, zucchini, celery, sea vegetables, and green onions are the foods that help cleanse your liver, and prevent and remove toxins from your body. Make sure you buy organic. Otherwise, you will do more harm than good.

2. Switch to herbal teas
Herbals teas are not the most delicious drinks to have for breakfast, but they are much healthier than coffee and black, and even green teas. Start your day with a cup of herbal tea like mint, ginger or chamomile to spring clean your overall body, drop weight and boost your energy level.

Lemon water is another option. Can’t wake up without coffee? Look for the organic version to increase your antioxidant intake and avoid toxins. When you drink herbal teas, use raw honey instead of sugar. When it comes to coffee, brown sugar is a smart substitute.

3. Make your own juices
Those of you who start the morning with a glass of juice should invest in a good juicer. Store-bought juices are packed with sugar, preservatives, syrups and the ingredients that we can’t even pronounce.

Homemade green juices have powerful cleansing properties. Some of the best ingredients to add to the juice are green apples, dandelion, parsley, avocado, kale, mustard greens, chard, spinach, arugula and green grapes.

4. Increase your water intake
…at least for two weeks. Drinking water helps to hydrate and cleanse the system. This is particularly important at the beginning of the spring. It does not necessarily to drink plain water. Add some berries to it to improve its taste.

5. Experiment with spring salads
Salad must become the star of your spring menu. It is healthy and tasty, not to mention that it boasts amazing cleansing properties. Avoid using mayo and store-bought salad dressings that typically contain cheap filler oils like canola and soy. Make your own dressings or do not use any at all. Sprinkle lemon juice over your salad and add flax seeds for an extra boost of nutrients.

6. Learn to eat mindfully
Do you know one of the major reasons why you often overeat? Because you do not eat mindfully. First of all, make sure you do not eat in front of the screens. Chew your food thoroughly, appreciating every bite. This will help to absorb more nutrients from the food, and will give your stomach enough time to give your brain a signal that it is full. The art of mindful eating is actually easy to master.

Spring is the perfect time to hit the pause button on winter eating habits and adopt new ones that will help you feel function at your best. Happy spring cleaning!

Puretta promises to clean the poop particles from your toothbrush

Where do you store your toothbrush? Mine is often stored in an old, toothpaste-stained salsa jar (label removed) next to a mug of hydrogen peroxide, where I leave my retainer to soak. These are precariously placed in the top-left corner of my pedestal sink, a decidedly bad place to store anything of importance.

But I keep my toothbrush on the farthest left ledge of the tiny sink because I’m driven by fear — fear of poop particles and all other manner of germ accumulation that happens in the only bathroom of a 450-square-foot apartment. If you’re as anxious as I am about hygiene, the Kickstarter for Puretta might ease your concerns.

DO YOU FIND THE POOP ON YOUR TOOTHBRUSH TO BE TROUBLING?
Puretta is a wall attachment that is a toothbrush holder and a toothpaste and floss dispenser, and it claims to sterilize toothbrushes with UV light. It also has a solar panel to charge — so hopefully your bathroom gets a lot of light.

The sterilization is performed with a 253.7 nm UV light (also known as a “germicidal light”). These lights can be commonly found in laboratories as part of a water sterilization sequence, according to Novus Light Technologies Today. They work to inactivate the DNA of microorganisms like bacteria and viruses, and the lamps work most effectively from light ranges 250 nm to 280 nm.

In June 2015, the American Society for Microbiology released a study finding that at least 60 percent of toothbrushes from participants in communal bathrooms were contaminated with fecal coliforms. Yum. To make the shitcake sweeter, there’s an 80 percent likelihood that the fecal coliforms did not belong to the toothbrush owner.

I haven’t tested Puretta, but if it does come equipped with a properly functioning 253.7 nm UV light, it should actually sterilize the toothbrushes, which is all I give a crap about. The light is supposed to last for five years and is replaceable, although some bathrooms — like my dingy one — may be far too dark to charge the solar-powered Puretta.

My bathroom is a glorified dungeon (no offense to dungeons), and would not offer charge to a solar powered device.
The campaign launched on August 15th, is already 300 percent funded at time of writing, and almost all discounted backing perks have been claimed. Puretta expects to ship in October 2017, but did not specify retail pricing. Judging from early bird pledges, you can expect it to hit shelves for around $60 to $75, if the company delivers. Puretta appears to be the first product from Puretta Technology, which doesn’t have any history of shipping a product, so take your usual precautions before backing the project.
